Synopsis: Antonina Zabinska and her husband Dr Jan Zabinski, the director of the Warsaw Zoo, struggle to keep the zoo operational following the German invasion of Poland in 1939. After the couple begin working with the Polish underground resistance, they use the zoo’s abandoned animal cages and underground tunnels to shelter Jews escaping from the Warsaw Ghetto.
